The PGA Tour is putting for the lead against LIV Golf.
The Tour has been losing players throughout the year, as more big-name players head to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series for big-time paydays and fewer work days. However, it looks like the PGA Tour may finally have an answer for potential LIV defectors.
Golf Digest reports that the PGA Tour is adding eight limited-field, no-cut events starting in the fall of 2023, each with $20 million purses. Those who rank inside the FedEx Cup top 50 from the prior season will be allowed to compete in the events; those outside the top 50 will compete in alternate events to try and improve their status and keep their Tour cards.
