Will Zalatoris is cementing a pretty solid reputation for someone that’s just 25–becoming the bridesmaid in golf’s biggest tournaments.
Despite being just 25 and playing in his first full season on the PGA Tour, Zalatoris has three runner-up finishes in majors. After doing so at the 2021 Masters, he has finished in this spot in the last two–losing in a playoff to Justin Thomas at the PGA Championship and then just missing on a birdie putt Sunday that would’ve sent him into a playoff with Matt Fitzpatrick at the U.S. Open.
Zalatoris was asked to compare this heartbreak with the other two second-place finishes, and he felt like he was ready to win this time. He also took a jab at some “critics” who have probably not recorded three runner-up finishes at majors.
