In Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals, Warriors forward Draymond Green was at the center of a controversial ruling.
Early on in the game, Green received his first technical foul after getting tangled up with Celtics forward Grant Williams. As the first half came to a close, Green and Celtics guard Jaylen Brown needed to be separated after getting tangled up, but, after a review of the play, no technical fouls were assessed, meaning Green had avoided his second technical and an automatic ejection.
Green’s presence — and physicality — has been paramount to Golden State’s success, and there’s no telling whether or not the Warriors would have been able to even the series had the do-it-all forward been unavailable in the second half.
While he avoided ejection in Game 2, Green isn’t exactly in the clear — he now has four total technical fouls in this postseason and has already been ejected once for a foul on Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke that was ruled a Flagrant 2.
With between three and five games remaining in the 2022 NBA Finals, Green must now tread carefully in order to avoid triggering an automatic suspension.
