The Chicago Bears signed free agent quarterback Nathan Peterman to a one-year contract.
Peterman spent the past two seasons as the third-string quarterback with the Las Vegas Raiders. He appeared in two games, completing three passes for 25 yards.
A fifth-round draft pick in 2017 by the Bills, he played two seasons in Buffalo, where he appeared in eight games with four starts (1-3 record).
In his career, Peterman has completed 71 of 135 pass attempts for 573 yards. He’s thrown for three touchdowns and 12 interceptions — five of them coming in a disastrous start on Nov. 19, 2017, against the Los Angeles Chargers.
In Las Vegas, Peterman played behind Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota. In Chicago, second-year QB Justin Fields is the expected starter with veteran Trevor Siemian signed earlier this offseason to serve as his primary backup.
